Years ago the "I'm a PC and I'm a Mac" commercials allowed Apple to use a challenger strategy to create a rivalry with PC makers. Now the rivalry is being renewed with Microsoft in the role of the challenger with a clever new ad featuring a guy whose real name is "Mac Book" talking about all the reasons the Surface is better. Best line? "The Surface has a better touch screen ... because it actually has a touch screen."

Those tiny bottles of shampoo and lotion will no longer be offered at any of the 843,000 rooms for hotels in the Intercontinental Hotel Group (which includes chains like Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza) by 2021. Along with the decision by San Francisco Airport to ban the sale of plastic bottles, we are seeing more pioneering choices like this not only generating well-deserved publicity, but also inspiring others to follow their lead.
