For years chants "go back to Africa" have been used by racists to marginalize people, but this campaign aims to turn the phrase around to make it an aspirational appeal for more African-Americans to come to visit Africa. It's unusual, unexpected and helps people reevaluate Africa - something I'm planning to do myself this week and next.

Most event planners I work with ask me for inspiration, entertainment, education and (usually) some combination of the three. Fun doesn't generally make it on the list. That's why the upcoming "Burning Cat" event is so refreshing. Put on by the creators of one of my favorite card games, the event promises to actually bring fun to an industry convention all about games--a welcome change that reminds participants not only why the gaming industry matters, but perhaps also why events do as well.
