The Big Idea

About the Non-Obvious
7 Minute Meetup.

Imagine if you could transform your experience at networking events from dread to delight. We all know that networking is an important way to build connections and grow our careers, so why are gatherings meant to bring us together so often painful experiences? The problem is we don’t have the right language to truly connect.

The Non-Obvious 7 Minute Meetup is a model first created and launched by Rohit Bhargava and the Non-Obvious Company at the SXSW Festival in Austin. The idea is to use a single “magic question” (what’s something non-obvious about you?) as a conversation starter that helps people connect on a deeper level. Whether it’s a group of people meeting for the first time, or an internal meeting where people already know one another, this simple model encourages more human connection.
